On Thursday, the Apex Court dismissed a Public Interest Litigation seeking a probe into questions such as why permission for the ‘Namaste Trump’ event was given, the PM “unilaterally” announcing a lockdown & reasons for the Govt not being prepared to procure more PPEs. Prashant Bhushan arguing for the PIL alleged that the government ignored WHO warning & its own guidelines on crowd gathering for the event in Gujarat. A bench of Justices L N Rao & Ajay Rastogi dismissed the petition saying, “This is a matter for public debate & not for the court to inquire into.”
