Special Court gives 54 men bail in Palghar Sadhu lynching case

 


On Thursday, Special Court in Thane granted bail to 54 tribals arrested for the lynching of two sadhus and their driver at Gadchinchale village in Kasa taluka of Palghar district in April.

District Judge P P Jadhav granted bail on a personal bond of Rs 15,000 each and a surety. Those given bail include eight men arrested soon after the crime on April 16. The remaining 48 men were arrested later for sharing videos of the lynching on social media.

The CID is on the case.

Advocates Amrut Adhikari and Atul Patil, representing the accused, submitted before the court that the applicants had no role to play in the lynching and had been arrested on mere suspicion.
