On Sunday, an Advocate, arrested for Murder, attempted Suicide by hitting himself with an iron rod in Puzhal prison.
Police said Vigneshwaran, 35, feared that he might get convicted in the case & tried to take his life. A resident of Kadapakkam near Cheyyur, the lawyer was arrested in connection with the murder of a man at Sunambedu near Kancheepuram in Oct.
Prison officials said Vigneshwaran had taken the iron rod from the kitchen & had hidden it in his prison block. Some inmates noticed him in a pool of blood & alerted prison officials.
Vigneshwaran was rushed to the convicts’ ward in Govt Stanley Hospital for treatment. Based on the complaint of prison officials, the Puzhal police have registered a case.
