On Tuesday, in a meeting held with the representatives of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), the CJI urged them to consider seeking Medical Expert's opinion before holding its elections in both physical and virtual mode.
The SCBA met with the CJI, SA Bobde to discuss plans on the upcoming elections. They have been requested to come out with a definite plan for the conduct of elections physically and the Medical Expert's opinion so that SC Registry would be in a position to take a call on their request. The SCBA has asked for necessary infrastructure and facilities to hold the elections in physical mode.

Inter-alia, the SCBA Members also urged CJI Bobde to consider starting with physical hearings for the Supreme Court. They have been told that the SC Registry shall also take Medical Expert's advise and decide rationally favouring all Stakeholders.
Notably, Senior Advocate and SCBA Member, Vikas Singh had written to the Chief Justice urging SC to take neccessary steps to make Physical Hearings feasible in January. He critiqued Virtual Mode on part of the Junior Lawyers and stated that they are the worst affected by this arrangement placed due to the pertaining Covid Pandemic.
