COVID-19: Delhi HC directs Subordinate Courts to prepare Roster allowing Physical Hearings on alternate days [Read Notice]


On Thursday, the Delhi High Court has issued Notice to its Subordinate Courts instructing them to prepare Roster allowing Physical Hearings on alternate days.

The Court has examined the decline in intensity of spread of Covid-19 in the NCT of Delhi and has reached a conclusion to commence with the Physical Courts. In the Notice thus issued it has asked the Primary District & Sessions Judges and Principal Judge, Family Court (HQ) to prepare Rosters of all the Subordinate Courts of thier respective Districts in such a manner that such Courts sit physically on alternate day basis and continue taking up matters via Video-Conferencing on other days.

The High Court has instructed to put the Roster in effect from the coming Monday i.e. 18-01-2021.

The Court has further permitted the Subordinate Courts to record evidences except in cases in which the accussed is in Custody complying with the Social Distancing norms during the Physical Hearings.

Additionally, he has asked them to coordinate with the Director General (Prison) and concerned Incharge (Prison) so as UTPs could be produced before Courts from 01-02-2021 and thereafter their cases can be taken up on priority basis and evidences can be recorded.
