Cheat posing as Supreme Court Judge dupes Man of Rs 12.5 lakh on pretext of getting him out of a Case

A 37-year-old fraudster has been arrested for allegedly defrauding a man of Rs 12.5 lakh by posing as a Judge of the Apex Court in Thrissur district of Kerala.

Police said the accused, identified as Puthiyatheru Kavithalayam Veettil Jigish, hails from Chirakkal in Kannur district. He introduced himself as a judge of the Supreme Court to a Paliakkara native, who owns a crane service unit, & took the money from him on the pretext of him getting him out of a case.

How it happened
According to a report by the news agency, Pudukkad Circle Inspector (CI) TN Unnikrishnan said that a person lost his life in an accident at the crane service unit owned by the Paliakkara native. Jigish approached the crane unit owner posing as a SC Judge & told him that the case against him would be withdrawn if he was ready to pay money. The crane unit owner agreed to pay the amount. Jigish arrived in a luxury 4-wheeler at the venue chosen by them. He took the money & zoomed away.

Police track down accused
A week later, the crane unit owner, after realizing that he has been defrauded, submitted a complaint to the police, following which a case was registered & efforts were initiated to nab track down the accused. He was nabbed from his posh rented house in Annamanada. Subsequent inquiries revealed that similar cases of fraud are registered against him in Valapattanam, Kodanad, Taliparamba, & Perumbavoor.

Another incident
In another incident, a case has been registered against ten people, including four staffers of an e-seva centre in Maharashtra's Thane, for allegedly indulging in fraud in processing caste certificates.

According to the police, some people submitted applications for caste certificates for their children along with fabricated documents at an e-seva kendra in Thane last year. Despite the e-seva kendra staff being allegedly aware of the forged documents, they forwarded them to the sub-divisional office (SDO).
