On Monday, the Karnataka High Court issued new SOP which disclosed that the Court has withdrew the relaxation granted on Dress Code for Advocates due the pertaining Covid pandemic.
In the modified Standard Operating Procedure which shall be applied on experimental basis, the Advocates have been asked to follow the Normal Dress Code with effect from February 1st.
The Court via its order issued on 11-07-2021 had relaxed the dress code for advocates appearing before it via physical or virtual mode.
It allowed them the option to wear plain white-shirt/white-salwar-kameez of any sober colour/saree of any sober colour with a plain white neckband, instead of donning the full formal dress code otherwise prescribed.
Apart from the above, the new SOP contains several changes to be applicable from January 27th, 2021.
An additional counter now been provided at the Principal Bench, Bengaluru for filing and receiving PF/Court fee, next to the existing counter. Canteen restrictions has been relaxed subject to the condition that seating capacity in the canteens shall be restricted to half of the present capacity and other Covid-19 precaution norma shall be followed. Staff members working in the canteen shall be subjected to thermal scanning. Canteen Contractor shall submit an undertaking concerning to Covid-19 precautions and measurements of the staff.
Restricted use of elevators/lifts and mandatory wearing of masks in the Court halls as well as the Court premises shall continue, the SOP reiterates. Prohibition on the entry of litigants will continue to operate at the principal seat at Bengaluru and Benches at Dharwad and Kalaburagi as per the existing SOP.
The Court stated that if it is found that Advocates and litigants are not following rules of the modified SOPs, it shall withdraw it.
