LGBTQ stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer. In today’s world with information reaching places and increasing awareness, the world is coming together to recognize and support the LGBTQ community and uphold their rights. Our esteemed speaker, Adv. Rahul Tiwari will be discussing various aspects related to instant topic including, the history of the ongoing debate on same sex marriage, evolution of laws related to LGBTQ in India, global laws and viewpoint related to LGBTQ Marriage and activist movements and debates.

Furthermore, questions of principal magnitude including, why is LGBTQ still treated as an abusive word, why is homosexuality still considered as an abnormality, who defines normal and do you think addition of sex education to Indian curriculum would make a difference in this respect would be deliberated upon. The webinar will also focus on the current socio-legal status for LGBTQ in India with the help of landmark cases.

Rahul Tiwari, Advocate, Delhi High Court

Advocate Rahul Tiwari completed his legal education from New Law College, Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune. He has also obtained his LLM, with 8.35 CGPA (Distinction Holder), specialising in Cyber Crime & Economic offence. He has a strong passion for Legal Research and Public Speaking. He is a founding and Managing Partner of LNS Associate which is a MCA Registered Law Firm. This firm also offers online legal education & training to law students and fresh graduates. He is also Panel Member of World Cyber Security Forum (WCSF).

He has presented 25 Research papers in various international and national seminars, in Denmark, NLSIU Bangalore, BHU, CNLU Patna, IIT Hyderabad, NLU Odisha, IIIT Allahabad, Delhi University and has 7 Unpaid publications in prestigious journals including the UGC approved one. Apart from legal practise and research, he loves teaching students (Colleges & School). He has been invited as Guest Speaker on 18 Webinars where he taught law students about basics of Criminal & Constitutional Law. He has been invited to 4 panel discussions, including the one from LawSikho, to discuss various legal issues. He has taught 240 students on criminal law through certificate courses. He has also been invited as Judge for various Debate competitions, National Moot Court Competition, and Bail Application competition.

He has also been invited in NLU Delhi as a Resource Person in a national conference on Protection of Women from sexual harassment at workplace. After passing out from his law school, he has worked on Babari Masjid Demolition case under AOR MR Shamshad as Research Associate and then worked as an Associate at Litigation firm Lamba & Lamba, Gurugram. He is now practicing in Delhi High Court, District Courts & Gurugram District Court.His area of Interests are Criminal Law, Cyber Law & Security, Artificial Intelligence Law and Corporate Litigation. His hobbies include reading, researching, and swimming.He follows the life philosophy of Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr. and Ambedkar. He loves Horse Riding & swimming.
